Position Summary: The Payroll Analyst plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing and benefits administration. This position supports the HR and Finance teams by maintaining payroll systems, auditing data, and responding to employee inquiries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in payroll and benefits regulations, and committed to maintaining confidentiality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Administration:
    • Process bi-weekly payroll and off-cycle checks accurately and on time.
    • Maintain and update payroll records including new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
    • Audit payroll transactions and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding timekeeping, pay, and deductions.
    • Administer garnishments, wage deductions, and income verification requests.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and company policies.
    • Assist in preparing W-2 forms and year-end payroll audits.
    • Recommend improvements to payroll systems and procedures.
  • Benefits Support:
    • Assist with benefits enrollment and ensure accurate data entry in HRIS systems.
    • Perform quality checks on benefits-related data and resolve discrepancies.
    • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits plans, eligibility, and changes.
    • Support 401(k) administration including enrollments, contribution changes, and catch-up contributions.
    • Help coordinate open enrollment and distribute materials.
    • Administer tuition reimbursement requests and track program usage.
    • Generate benefits and payroll reports as needed.

Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of payroll experience; multistate payroll experience preferred.
  • 1–2 years of benefits administration experience.
  • Strong understanding of payroll and benefits laws and regulations.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with ADP or similar payroll systems preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

Physical Requirements:  

  • Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.   
  • Stationary Position – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.  
  • Move or Traverse – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc.  May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
  • Dexterity – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.  
  • Move, Transport, Position, Put, Install, Remove - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs. 
  • Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess - The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
