“Shift Supervisor”

Tekni-Plex Consumer Products Division – Van Wert, OH 

(Manufacturer of molded pulp consumer products)

Compensation:   $70k+ annual salary (depending upon experience)

PLUS eligibility for annual bonus

 

Description:

The Van Wert, OH Fiber plant is a part of the Consumer Products Division of a global leader in Consumer Products & Healthcare solutions. The SHIFT SUPERVISOR will be primarily responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the front line employees.  Ensures a safe working environment through modeling safe behaviors, leading audits/inspections, correcting unsafe behaviors, conducting safety meetings, and utilizing proper work methods, procedures and equipment. Provides direct supervision to production employees. In this start-up Mfg location, the SHIFT SUPERVISOR will actively partner with HR & Operations leaders to hire & train crew members to operate Molding, Pulping, and Printing equipment in the manufacturing of molded pulp egg cartons.  The Van Wert Fiber location will be a manufacturer of molded pulp consumer products; primarily egg cartons.  Visit our website for more information about our people, products, and culture!  www.Tekni-Plex.com

Key Accountabilities:

Maintain a Safe Working Environment: Ensure safety requirements are met & ensure diverse, respectful workplace conditions are adhered to for an overall “safe workplace.” Engage warehouse & scheduling team to be consistently involved in safety culture.

Employee Experience: Partner with HR and plant leadership team to attract, embrace, and empower people. Maintain structure of skilled staffing level to accomplish warehouse department mission. Directly supervise, coach, mentor, & develop production crew, driving & adhering to a “We Grow People” approach to training/growth/development. 

Accelerate Innovation: Understand business needs & goals and transform ideas into action. Lead team through changes & business growth. Encourage open dialogue and sharing of ideas - recognize & reward teams for innovative ideas.  Drive a culture of trust, inclusiveness, and celebration of shared ideas for product and/or process improvements. 

Optimize Our Work:  Observe/evaluate concerns and opportunities in processes, procedures and/or systems. Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of crew employees; ensures their ability to SAFELY operate equipment to produce product; cross-training team members to effectively/efficiently operate variety of equipment across the factory floor. Develops & mentors shift LEAD to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned crew.

Win as a Team:  Collaborates with other team members in all departments and across all levels of the plant team to develop and install methods, improvements and cost saving ideas.

Drive Customer Satisfaction: Works closely with the Plant Manager & Production Manager to drive plant standards, procedures and program plans for achieving and maintaining the required level of product quality. 

 Position Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of 5 or more years previous Shift Supervisor experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment 
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills as well as interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are critical for excelling in this position.
  • Servant Leadership style
  • Must be willing/able to eventually transition from 8-hour shift to 12-hour shift as location gradually becomes fully operational over the next several months.

Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • Molded Pulp foodservice mfg experience preferred
  • Certification, or willingness to become certified in the following: CPR and first-aid, Six Sigma
  • Self-directed approach to work & prioritization.
  • Recruiting/Interviewing/Hire Selection experience a huge plus
  • Bilingual abilities are a bonus
