Preschool Teacher (Infant–Preschool)

At Palmetto Christian Daycare (PCD), we believe early childhood is sacred and foundational. Our classrooms are filled with Christ-centered, play-based learning balanced with structure, creativity, and care. We nurture the whole child spiritually, socially, emotionally, and cognitively, and we invest in our teachers the same way.

We are currently hiring reliable full-time teachers (Infant–Preschool) to join our dedicated team!

Responsibilities:

• Foster a loving, structured classroom environment with joy and consistency
   
• Create and implement lesson plans aligned with PCD themes, values, and Creative Curriculum (with flexibility for child-led learning and outdoor play)
   
• Support children’s growth in faith, social skills, problem-solving, and self-esteem
   
• Encourage appropriate peer interaction and follow PCD discipline policy
   
• Ensure safety and organization during meals, naps, and daily routines
   
• Maintain DSS compliance (weekly checks) and PCD quality standards
   
• Communicate daily with families (updates, logs, photos)
   
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom consistent with health and safety
   
• Collaborate positively with teammates and administration
   
• Mentor and support new staff as needed

• A genuine love, patience, and understanding of children
   
• Reliable, dependable, and dedicated, strong attendance and punctuality
   
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift for extended periods
   
• Willingness to integrate Christian values into classroom activities
   
• Professional, positive communication with parents and teammates

Schedule

• Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts (no weekends). New hires typically start with our 9:00 am -6:00 pm shift or 8:30 am -5:30 pm

Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent 
• Minimum age of 18 
• TB test and physical before start date

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Prior teaching or child care experience
• Completion of the South Carolina Early Childhood Credential (ECD 101)
• At least 6 months of experience in a regulated child care facility

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

• Successful completion of an FBI and SLED background check
   
• Annual completion of 15 hours of training, including:
   
  • 5 hours in child growth and development
     
  • 5 hours in curriculum activities for children
     
  • Remaining hours in health, safety, or other child care-related topics
     
• Current Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
   
• If transporting children, a valid Class C driver's license with a clean Department of Public Safety record, plus 2 hours of transportation training annually
