The opportunity:

 

As a Senior Safety Advisor, you’ll play a key role in shaping the safety outcomes of high-impact construction projects or operational work across Queensland. You will support teams across diverse locations while driving practical safety solutions on the ground. We are open to candidates based in Brisbane, Townsville, or Gladstone, who have the ability to travel for extended periods, including to remote and isolated locations.

 

  • Develop construction-specific safety systems and frameworks to enhance project safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO45001 standards and relevant safety legislation through expert risk assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with field teams, project managers, and contractors to resolve complex safety challenges.
  • Mentor stakeholders to foster a proactive safety culture throughout all phases of projects.
  • Join one of multiple positions supporting either construction (Townsville, Gladstone, or Brisbane) or operations (Brisbane), with frequent travel across Queensland.

The people you'll join:

 

As a member of the Corporate Services Division within the Health & Safety (H&S) Group, you will join a dedicated team committed to fostering a strong safety culture across Powerlink. We have multiple opportunities located across Queensland—in Brisbane, Townsville, and Gladstone—supporting major construction projects and ongoing operations. Successful candidates will report directly to the Safety Lead, working collaboratively to provide expert safety guidance and drive continuous improvement in safety systems and practices statewide.

 

What you'll bring:

 

You’ll bring extensive knowledge and experience in safety management within construction or infrastructure projects, with strong skills in risk assessment, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring. You’ll have a proven ability to develop and implement safety systems that ensure regulatory compliance and promote a proactive safety culture in complex operational environments. You’ll also be willing to attend various sites across Queensland and be prepared to travel a minimum of 6 days each month, including to remote and isolated locations.

  • Degree-level qualification in Safety, Health, or a related discipline, or significant equivalent experience
  • Formal investigation qualification or experience in contemporary event learning approaches (I,e, Learning Teams)
  • Formal internal audit qualifications (e.g., ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001) and experience conducting formal HSE audits
