We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic pharmacist, with experience in medication management reviews, aged care, and an interest in research to participate in an exciting project aimed at improving health systems and outcomes for aged care residents.• Salary Package: From $111,643 to $121,045 per annum (HEW 7), plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading. Pro-rata rates apply for part-time appointments.

• Location: Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences, Macquarie University (Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde)
The Role
The Centre has been awarded an MRFF grant to develop a deprescribing platform powered by artificial intelligence (AI) in residential aged care. This project aims to support aged care staff and stakeholders in effectively manage medications, and to develop deprescribing resources. The platform will be evaluated using a randomised controlled trial, with a process evaluation and cost-effectiveness study, using mixed methods. The project has multiple industry partners.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Support the project data collection activities and implementation of intervention, including liaising with data collection sites to coordinate activities
Collect data through interviews with stakeholders, support data management as required
Participate in the review of literature and preparation of research manuscripts, presentations and reports
Engage with project partners and consumers to inform the project design
About You
We are seeking a pharmacist with experience working in residential aged care. The role will support an exciting program of research to improve medication management, and hence resident outcomes, using digital interventions and AI in aged care. The role will involve close liaison with a wide range of research partners, both internal and external to the university.
The successful applicant will be interested in working in a multi-disciplinary team and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders. They will be able to work independently and demonstrate the capacity for project planning and clear communication.
About Us
The Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research (CHSSR), one of the core research centres within the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, has a multi-stream program of research which focuses on investigating the outcomes and safety of health services and a staff of 50. The Centre has particular expertise in assessing the impact of information technologies and investigating the role of electronic health records and decision support in supporting improved health care delivery and health outcomes. The Centre’s research team is multi-disciplinary and applies a broad range of research techniques, from RCT designs to direct observations of clinical work.

Essential Selection Criteria:
A tertiary pharmacy qualification (e.g. BPharm),
Experience working in community or hospital pharmacy, including the provision of services to residential aged care,
Experience conducting medication management reviews, including Home Medicines Reviews or Residential Medication Management Reviews (RMMRs),
An understanding of Australian community pharmacy and residential aged care services,
Excellent oral and written, inter-personal and team communication skills, and
Excellent attention to detail
Desirable Selection Criteria:
Past experience or involvement in research, including in the medication safety or QUM field,
MSc or PhD qualifications in pharmacy, and/or
Knowledge of electronic systems used in residential aged care to support care delivery, including medication management systems.
