Duties & Responsibilities
- *Assists with the development, interpretation, and implementation of policies, procedures, instructions, and guidelines as they relate to admissions and student services activities.
- *Provide faculty and student support in academic advising, including updated advising forms, advising period support, mid-semester academic review notices, etc.
- Support the Workforce Hub in their recruitment efforts
- *Serve as the primary contact for students in terms of application processes, walk-ins, phone calls, and one-on-one application support.
- *Monitor applications and contact students about ongoing missing documents, incomplete status, in both DSW processes and larger UH application processes
- Communicate with external programs, units, and others, particularly the UH system advising community, to maintain current and accurate information on School programs and their requirements.
- *Conduct routine checks of students’ registration status based on academic plan, including checking variable credit courses for appropriate credit selection, prerequisite and course sequencing corrections, and other registration monitoring and notification.
- *Oversee pre-SW undergraduate advising, including support of Manoa Peer Advisors.
- Conduct initial advising with incoming students after admissions.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of departmental activities including, but not limited to, New Student Orientations, Graduation, Application Information Meetings, and Recruitment activities.
- Support student groups’ activities, including dissemination information, convocation planning, and fundraising activities.
- Create, review, and maintain documentation for graduation checks and degree verification, as well as verification letters to external organizations (such as for employment or licensure exams).
- Monitor and report student enrollment and registration data to Department and Program chairs to inform course planning and enrollment management activities relating to advising.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Education, or related field and 2 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for student services; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in student services demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with student services.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the student services.
- Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience of the Banner and STAR student information systems.
- Familiarity with University of Hawaii policies and procedures related to student services.
- Familiarity with the structure, procedures, and policies of the University of Hawaii Records and Admissions and the UH
- Manoa Graduate Division Records and Admissions offices.
- Familiarity with admissions processes of academic programs.
- Knowledge and experience of records keeping, data analysis, and data management.
- Experience working directly with diverse populations of students.
