Substitute Mechanic II presso Kern County Superintendent of Schools

Under direction, the Mechanic II will perform a variety of skilled level repair, overhaul and maintenance of buses, passenger vehicles, trucks and a variety of other gasoline and diesel powered motorized equipment; do other related work as required.

Education: • Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training or coursework in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment. Experience: • Two (2) years of experience as a journeyman level gasoline and diesel powered automotive mechanic. License Requirement: Must possess a valid Class B, California Drivers License, with a passenger endorsement, or obtain one within six months of employment. $29.30 per hour

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
