Job Summary

The Financial and Analytics Manager for the Neurosurgery Network will work closely with other decision support professionals, department finance professionals, and senior leaders to provide detailed and meaningful reporting and analysis of the department’s clinical productivity, network and division finances, while providing programmatic support to the Acute Care Program to achieve its objectives.

The position ,manages, plans, administers and coordinates the administrative operations of the Acute Neurosurgery Division. Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Manages national effort to implement a model Traumatic Brain Injury clinic at various hospitals and institutions out of state and create a post-acute TBI network.

Manage department network agreements and negotiations.

Lead developer and administrator for the Department Business Intelligence (BI) Unit. Provides detailed reporting and analysis of department clinical operations to the faculty level.

Applies extensive knowledge of industry practices in health care decision support and advanced professional concepts to substantial projects, typically at high degrees of complexity.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $129,300 - $194,000 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • In-depth understanding of decision support systems, with knowledge of business statistics, quantitative methods, relational databases, business development scorecards, data modeling, and performance and profitability analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of issues and aspects of clinical finance, planning, financial data management, budget development, and business development. Proficiency in utilizing the tools to produce comprehensive, studies and actionable intelligence
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills, and ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead projects and teams and collaborate productively on highly-complex projects with key personnel at all professional and technical levels
  • Advanced written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to interpret and convey highly sophisticated technical and financial information in a clear, concise manner, and to make cogent presentations of analyses, reports, and investigation results
  • Advanced problem-solving skills analytical ability, and in-depth knowledge of documentation and reporting, with the ability to run highly complex queries and studies, to collect and analyze financial and performance data, and to produce relevant, meaningful reports, analyses, and forecasts
  • In-depth ability to work with senior staff and managers across departments, serving as a technical leader and information resource in decision support, and providing recommendations and advice on decision support processes, business and financial issues, and industry trends and advances

Department Description

The Department of Neurosurgery is a highly active clinical and research department within the School of Medicine. The Department has 65 full-time faculty working as clinicians and/or basic research scientists, 11 recall faculty, 20 volunteer faculty, 29 non-faculty academics, 50 postdoctoral scholars, 21 residents, 8 clinical fellows, 7 graduate students and approximately 185 administrative, clinic and research staff. The department conducts its clinical, teaching, and research activities at four UCSF campuses: Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, San Francisco General Hospital and the Helen Diller Cancer Building at Mission Bay. Faculty and staff are located at the Parnassus and Mission Bay Campuses as well as SFGH, VA and Bay area outreach centers.
