About our opportunity:
What you'll be doing:
Greet and check in vehicles as they arrive at the Fleet Management department.
Initiate work orders using our fleet management software.
Distribute the Preventive Maintenance and NC State Safety Inspection schedules to all departments.
Review open work orders to ensure all labor, parts, and sublet repairs are accurately billed.
Close completed work orders and maintain a report to track and ensure the timely closing of all open work orders.
Perform minor vehicle repairs, including replacing windshield wipers, topping off fluids, and checking tire pressure.
Prepares and processed Vendor invoices.
Tracks all City of Asheville Assets that are sent out to Vendors for service or repair.
Manage the preparation of auction equipment and provide the necessary information to the Purchasing department.
Maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the shop entrance and customer waiting areas.

About you:
We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:- Associate's degree in auto mechanics or associated field and/or 10 plus years of automotive experience preferred; and/or any equivalent combination of training and experience required to perform the essential position functions.
- Proficient in the use of computerized systems: Email, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, and Fleet Management based software.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License issued by the State of North Carolina within six months of hire date.

Normal Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Other Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, tools, materials and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles.
Considerable knowledge of the operating principles of diesel and gasoline engines and of the standard mechanical components of automotive and related equipment.
Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of automotive equipment repair work and large-scale shop operations.
Considerable knowledge of computerized fleet maintenance software systems.
General knowledge of the principles of administration and organization.
Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of automotive and related equipment.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to prepare and maintain computerized records.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
