Role overview: 

This role is responsible for Gartner’s physical safety & security program across the Americas region and will also provide operational support for regional events  

The ideal candidate can successfully work and lead in a collaborative and matrixed environment, be exceedingly well organized and flexible, demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive business information, and balance thorough risk management practices with a customer-service mindset.  

Reporting Relationship: The candidate will report to the Sr. Director, Global Security Operations. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Execute and further refine a regional safety & security strategy, incorporating people, process, and technology elements at all assigned office locations.  

  • Manage the Americas security team, including both employees and contract site security, ensuring excellent performance and that contract terms and service-level agreements are met. 

  • Partner successfully with a broad and diverse group of internal stakeholders, including Health & Safety, Real Estate, Event Security, Human Resources, and local business unit leaders. Provide counsel and recommendations on security issues as needed. 

  • Perform site safety and security risk assessments; implement findings and recommendations. 

  • Lead and/or contribute to programs such as Threat Management and Workplace Violence, Crisis Management/Emergency Response, Traveler Support, etc. 

  • Collaborate and assist in completing regional security-related investigations with Information Technology, HR, Legal, and other appropriate stakeholders. 

  • Coordinate and participate in the close protection of company executives, event guests, and VIPs. 

  • Support the Global Event Security team as needed, including contributing to projects, planning, and supporting events. 

  • Manage internal documentation; contribute ideas to improve program processes, tools, services, and techniques. 

  • Liaise with external industry resources (e.g., law enforcement, government, emergency responders, industry peers & associations, etc.) on event security best practices 

  • Other safety and security duties as assigned. 

 

 

 

 

Key Skills: 

Candidates must demonstrate they can successfully: 

  • Assess regional security and safety threats, including geopolitical, terrorism, civil unrest, infrastructure, and environmental threats, and manage incidents and events.   

  • Develop event security plans and manage event security operations. 

  • Prepare and present risk assessments, investigation reports, and situational awareness briefings.  

  • Execute Threat Management and Workplace Violence prevention programs, investigations, and training. 

  • Support access control and security system technology, guard force, and general vendor management activities.  

  • Coach, train, and effectively address performance concerns for both employees and contract staff. 

  • Exercise sound operational judgment, as well as flexibility to shifting priorities and challenges. 

  • Correctly prioritize objectives and effectively manage resources. 

  • Communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including executives. 

 

Key Qualifications:  

  • At least 10 years of experience in the security field, including experience in a corporate environment. 

  • Operational experience managing security vendors, guard services, and external security teams. 

  • Expertise in threat management, threat assessment, protective intelligence, and personal protective processes. 

  • Experience with law enforcement, regional security, or security risk management preferred.  

 

 

Other Requirements:  

  •  Ability to travel up to 40% and have a current passport. 
  • Work evening or weekend hours in the event of a security incident or event. 

  • Perform and oversee routine security functions including walking escorts, climbing stairs, and standing stationary posts. 

  • Possess or have the ability to obtain an Armed Security Officer certification through TSA within 90 days of hire. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 92,000 USD - 131,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
