Description
The Director of Security provides strategic oversight and hands-on leadership for all hotel safety and security operations. This role ensures the protection of guests, employees, and property by implementing proactive safety plans, training staff, and coordinating emergency response procedures. Combining strong communication skills with a customer-service mindset, the Director of Security fosters a safe, secure, and welcoming environment that reflects Avion Hospitality’s values of Trust, Transparency, and Results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and supervise the security team to ensure consistent, professional execution of all security operations.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the property, engaging guests and colleagues to promote a safe and friendly atmosphere.
- Respond promptly and effectively to guest and employee emergencies and incidents, coordinating with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
- Investigate and document all safety or security incidents, ensuring thorough and objective reporting.
- Prepare and deliver regular safety and security training programs for hotel staff, including quarterly sessions on crime prevention, emergency procedures, and ethical conduct.
- Monitor and operate security systems, including video surveillance, access control, and alarm panels, to identify and resolve potential security risks through regular patrols and observations.
- Collaborate with all hotel departments to align on emergency and safety protocols and to ensure consistent communication during incidents.
- Assist in developing and enforcing hotel-wide safety and security policies, staying current on emerging threats relevant to the hospitality industry.
- Maintain accurate records, incident logs, and reports for internal use and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in security operations, preferably in a hospitality environment.
- Proven ability to operate and manage physical security systems, including surveillance cameras and access control equipment.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to train, motivate, and develop team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing detailed incident reports and leading staff training sessions.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and professional in handling emergencies.
- Strong interpersonal and customer-service orientation; comfortable interacting with guests, employees, and external agencies.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
