Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accessibility Tester to join our team. The Accessibility Tester will evaluate digital products, including websites, applications, and documents, to ensure compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). This role is critical to ensuring an inclusive experience for all users, particularly those with disabilities
Responsibilities
Accessibility Testing:
Conduct manual and automated testing to ensure digital content and features comply with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1, Section 508, ADA).
Use tools such as screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), accessibility checkers (e.g., Axe, WAVE), and other testing tools.
Analysis and Reporting:
Identify and document accessibility issues, including barriers faced by users with visual, auditory, cognitive, or motor disabilities.
Provide clear and actionable feedback to development teams and stakeholders.
Prioritize issues based on impact and severity.
Collaboration:
Work closely with designers, developers, and content creators to guide accessibility best practices.
Participate in accessibility review meetings to discuss findings and solutions.
Training and Advocacy:
Stay updated on the latest accessibility standards, tools, and techniques.
Educate team members on accessibility requirements and advocate for inclusive design.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of test results and issue resolution.
Assist in creating accessibility documentation, such as conformance statements and VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates)
Qualifications and Job Requirements
Proven experience in accessibility testing and evaluation across web, mobile web, and native applications
Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, Section 508, and ARIA
Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript from an accessibility standpoint
Hands-on experience with assistive technologies and tools (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver; Axe, WAVE, ANDI, Accessibility Insights, AccessAssistant)
Deep expertise in at least one screen reader (JAWS or NVDA) and one testing tool/plugin
Experience creating or contributing to accessibility documentation, including VPATs
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and proactively with cross-functional teams
