JOB TITLE: Workforce & Financial Empowerment Caseworker
REPORTS TO: Director of Workforce & Economic Empowerment
LOCATION: 512 South 11th Street, Springfield, IL 62703 (Empowerment Center)
Description of Basic Responsibilities
The Workforce & Financial Empowerment Caseworker supports participants in achieving employment and financial goals across programs such as SNAP, TANF, United Way, and youth workforce initiatives. This role manages participant caseloads, provides employment and financial coaching support, ensures accurate data reporting, and helps coordinate program operations while maintaining compliance with all grant and organizational requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Case Management & Participant Support
- Recruit and manage caseloads for all workforce program participants.
- Conduct intake and orientation sessions, enrolling walk-in participants.
- Provide employment coaching, job search support, resume writing, and interview preparation.
- Assist with financial literacy activities, credit reports, budgets, and workshops.
- Maintain regular follow-up to track participant progress and address barriers.
Data & Reporting
- Enter accurate data in Salesforce, WVS, ISETS, and Apricot systems.
- Complete required reports (e.g., SNAP Assessments, PPTT Reports, ISETS 4333 Reports) on time.
- Keep attendance records, calendars, and staffing lists current.
- Ensure confidentiality and data accuracy at all times.
Program Operations
- Prepare monthly workshop calendars and needed materials.
- Order supportive services and program supplies; process purchase orders.
- Coordinate TANF worksite placements and partner work agreements.
- Maintain organized files, sign-in sheets, and participant records.
- Support youth workforce activities and IYEP participants as needed.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work with the Director of Workforce Development, Financial Coach, and other team members to align workforce and financial empowerment goals.
- Partner with community organizations and schools to coordinate services.
- Maintain professionalism when working with participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Business, or related field OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year of experience in case management, workforce development, or financial literacy programs.
- Proficiency in case management/data systems such as Salesforce or Apricot preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends.
Work Environment
- Regular office hours M-F 8:30 – 5:00 with occasional evening or weekend events required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds of program supplies and materials when needed.
- Local travel may be required for participant site visits or training sessions.
