ECT is looking for on-call field archaeologists to assist on projects in Texas and surrounding states. The archaeology field technician performs a variety of archaeological field survey tasks under the supervision of a senior archaeologist or field supervisor. Field assignments can include hours outside of a standard workday and last a few weeks at a time. This is an on-call position meaning assignment length will vary and applicants will be required to travel to the job sites from their home locations. 

Immediate project needs are in Texas with additional opportunities across the Unites States.

(ECT) is growing our team of on-call Archaeology Field Technicians to support projects across the United States. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on field experience, work alongside senior archaeologists, and open doors to future part-time or full-time roles with ECT.

As an Archaeology Field Technician, you’ll take part in a variety of field assignments—ranging from archaeological surveys to excavations—while traveling to diverse project sites. Assignments may last several weeks and often include extended or non-traditional hours. ECT provides logistical coordination and ensures you’re equipped with all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

What You’ll Do:

  • Participate in archaeological surveys, shovel testing, and excavations.
  • Collect and record detailed field notes, maps, and excavation data.
  • Work outdoors in challenging conditions, including rugged terrain and varying weather.
  • Collaborate with experienced archaeologists and contribute to a supportive team environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Familiarity with GPS equipment.
  • Flexibility to travel on short notice to project sites across the country, including remote locations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork such as hiking, lifting, and extended outdoor activity.
