Key Responsibilities

Role Overview

Fire Engineers play a pivotal role in keeping people safe. They use science and engineering to understand how a fire behaves and design buildings to protect lives in the event a fire breaks out.

Every building is different and fire engineers are problem solvers who think creatively, especially on complex projects such as skyscrapers, hospitals or transport hubs.

As a Graduate Fire Engineer, you will support our experienced fire engineering team in delivering high-quality fire strategies and technical advice. You will be involved in all stages of a project—from concept design to construction—ensuring that fire safety is integrated into the design and build process.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate to join a supportive team, gain hands-on experience, and develop a professional career in fire engineering through mentoring, training, and ongoing development.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing fire safety strategies and reports for new and existing buildings in accordance with UK regulations and international codes.
  • Conduct fire engineering calculations, including means of escape, smoke control, and structural fire protection.
  • Support the use of computational tools such as CFD and evacuation modelling software.
  • Contribute to fire risk assessments, audits, and site inspections.
  • Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external clients, architects, and building control bodies.
  • Keep up to date with changes in fire safety legislation and technical standards.
  • Participate in internal knowledge-sharing sessions and graduate development programs.

Qualifications
  • A degree (or pending) in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Services, or a related STEM discipline

Behaviours
  • Recognised as a client focused, positive collaborator who shares knowledge freely and offers support to their peers and seniors. Recognised as a team player with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrates a positive and proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.
