About the role:
As the Transactions Director, you will be the key driver of M&A, partnership, and divestment activities across the OPEA Renewables portfolio—including onshore wind, solar PV, and battery storage. You will lead the origination, structuring, and execution of strategic transactions, ensuring capital-efficient growth and alignment with long-term business strategy.
This role sits on the OPEA Senior Management Team and demands strong leadership, commercial acumen, and stakeholder management across multiple jurisdictions. The role reports into the CEO.
You will:
- Act as the lead for strategic M&A, JV, and divestment processes, from origination through closing.
- Present commercial recommendations and risk assessments to the Board and Investment Committees.
- Design and negotiate long-term partnership and investment models with external stakeholders (e.g. developers, investors).
- Maintain strong connections with investors, advisors, and key players in the renewables market.
- Monitor energy policy, regulation, and market trends to proactively position the business for growth.
- Lead cross-functional deal teams (Legal, Finance, Tax, ESG, Technical, Development) to deliver high-quality execution.
- Ensure robust governance, financial modelling, and risk management throughout the transaction lifecycle.
- Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and accountable culture.
- Drive people development, performance management, and talent succession planning.
- Actively contribute to strategic planning and commercial positioning of the OPEA portfolio.
Job Requirements & Experience:
- University degree in Business, Law, Finance, or a related discipline; MBA or other advanced qualifications are advantageous.
- 12–15+ years of experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, or infrastructure/private equity—preferably within renewables or energy.
- Demonstrated leadership of complex international transactions and cross-functional teams.
- Proven record of senior stakeholder engagement, including Board-level interface.
- Strong structuring, negotiation, and financial modelling capabilities.
- Solid understanding of renewables markets, investor dynamics, and project finance.
- Inclusive and strategic leader with a hands-on mentality and pragmatic mindset.
- High integrity, resilience, and ability to navigate fast-paced, matrixed environments.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
- Willingness to travel regularly across Europe.
