Are you a parent looking to get more involved in your child’s basketball experience? acac is now hiring Youth Basketball Referees to help officiate games in a fair, fun, and safe way — and you don’t need prior officiating experience to get started! We’ll provide the training and support you need.

About the Role:

As a Youth Basketball Referee, you'll help oversee games for children ages 5–14, ensuring they are played with integrity, good sportsmanship, and safety in mind. You’ll be a role model on the court, promoting respect and positive competition while helping the kids enjoy the game.

Key Responsibilities:

• Officiate youth basketball games for ages 5-14 years old 
• Enforce game rules consistently and fairly using acac league guidelines 
• Encourage good sportsmanship and positive behavior from players, coaches, and spectators 
• Explain rules and calls clearly and confidently when needed 
• Assist with basic court setup and breakdown (e.g. cones, scoreboards, etc.) 
• Report any player injuries or incidents to the Youth Program Director 
• Arrive on time and be prepared for each scheduled game

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For:

• Must be at least 18 years old 
• Enjoy working with children and being part of a team environment 
• Ability to stay calm, confident, and fair under pressure 
• No officiating experience required – just bring a positive attitude and we’ll help with the rest!
   

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to move quickly up and down the court 
• Stand and walk for extended periods during games 
• Comfortable signaling with arms/hands and making clear calls 
• Able to lift/move up to 15 lbs of equipment if needed
