PROGRAM SUMMARY

Plaza de la Raza Child Development Services, Inc. (Plaza) is a comprehensive early childhood education program with a focus on school readiness for children zero to five years of age.  Developmentally appropriate services are provided for children from low-income families, zero to five years of age. Plaza de la Raza currently serves over 650 children and their families.


DEFINITION

Under general direction this position administers computer systems, including servers, networks, and security, and troubleshoots a variety of technical support problems involving all users, performs relational database management, assesses needs and provides user training and works with management staff.

The Business Operations Manager provides general direction and supervision. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Tests, installs, upgrades, and maintains hardware and network systems to ensure efficiency, reliability, and compatibility.

· Maintains network operations and VPN, monitors server performance and data integrity, and analyzes hardware utilization (RAM, CPU, disk, page files).

· Tests, installs, upgrades, and maintains hardware and network systems to ensure efficiency, reliability, and compatibility.

Maintains and updates databases and applications, applies patches and upgrades, and ensures security tools (anti-spyware, internet, and SPAM control) are effective and current

· Install, configures, tests, and images software applications and data files.

· Conduct survey to determine user needs.

· Provides technical support for system issues, assists users with specialized technology, and oversees help desk services, including vendor-managed support.

· Analyzes and implements cloud computing technologies and applications for work efficiency.

· Schedules and coordinates application development and systems integration services provided by outside service contractors

· Performs system security functions to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure, and maintains firewalls.

· Implement solutions or notify outsource providers as required.

· Provides purchasing recommendations, manages company cell phones, and maintains inventory of technology devices. 

· Monitors the updating of licensing software and create group policies for user administration HTML authoring purposes.


JOB REQUIREMENTS


Knowledge of: 

Microsoft and Windows software, network cabling installation and repair; various electronic mail programs, Microsoft Office and PC hardware support and repair, network installation, administration and troubleshooting, mail and web server operations and management and administration of large, multi-user systems. Web site development, including authoring, scripting, programming including experience with SQL databases.


Ability to:

Research, propose and bid new computer and network hardware and software, plan network infrastructure to accommodate growth and changing organizational needs, research ongoing technologies and their potential impact on Plaza de la Raza Child Development Services, Inc., develop and update computer and network related policies and procedures, oversee volunteers, and participant compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, demonstrate respect for individuals and groups with varied cultural, racial, ethnic, religious, and linguistic identities and backgrounds, maintain confidentiality.   


JOB REQUIREMENTS


Education:

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, including the use of Management Information Systems (MIS) and a broad variety of other types of specialized software programs. 


Experience:   

Two years of network, systems, security, and user support experience using varied hardware and software and computer 

applications.


HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

· Successful completion of an initial health examination, performed by or under the supervision of a physician, to determine, at a minimum, if the prospective employee can perform requirements of the job description physical requirements.

· Proof of the absence of Tuberculosis, from a physician, to show that the prospective employee is cleared to work with children and families.

· Documentation of current immunizations against Influenza, Measles (MMR) and Pertussis (TDAP).


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

· Fingerprint clearances from the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Child Abuse Index prior to starting employment.

· Completed and signed statement of any pending and/or prior criminal arrests/charges/convictions related to child sexual abuse, child abuse and neglect, and/or violent felonies.

· Verification that determines eligibility for employment in the United States of America.

· A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation to perform position duties is required.

· As a mandated reporter of child abuse, must immediately report any suspected child abuse and/or neglect to Child Protective Services. 

· Bi-lingual in a language reflective of the population served is preferred.

The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee may frequently lift and/or move a minimum of 25 pounds up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
