Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist will focus on recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations, with an emphasis on supporting hiring for our general labor team. This role also provides support in payroll administration, compliance, and employee engagement initiatives. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. A solid foundation in HR practices is required. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, equivalent HR experience will be considered.
Requirements
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Post job openings, screen applicants, schedule interviews, conduct background checks, and extend offers.
- Lead new hire orientations and manage accurate onboarding processes, with emphasis on the labor team.
- Maintain and update the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as a trusted liaison between employees and management, fostering open communication.
- Build strong relationships on the production floor to support positive employee relations.
- Plan and support employee engagement activities and assist with related budgeting.
- Coordinate and deliver compliance-related training (e.g., harassment prevention, Worker Protection Standard).
- Assist with employee relations investigations, documentation, and resolutions.
Payroll & Timekeeping
- Administer bi-weekly payroll for on-site employees and a multi-state remote workforce.
- Ensure accuracy of time and attendance records, reconciling hours worked promptly.
- Collaborate with managers to resolve timekeeping discrepancies.
Policy, Compliance & Administration
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support HR initiatives such as open enrollment, incentives, and policy updates.
- Maintain accurate and confidential HRIS records.
Additional HR Support
- Provide administrative support, including issuing keycards, and coordinating office supplies.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong payroll administration and time/attendance management experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to resolve conflict, mediate, and de-escalate issues effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred to effectively support a bilingual workforce.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, or equivalent HR experience.
- 2–4 years of HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing, production, or labor-intensive environment.
Work Environment
This role is primarily office-based with frequent interaction on the production floor. Work in the greenhouse may involve exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, noise, and allergens. The setting is fast-paced, with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
