SUMMARY
Shape Process Automation is seeking a Proposals Engineer to join our Proposals Department.
In this role, you’ll assist in evaluating how our products and services can meet customer needs and develop detailed cost estimates and technical descriptions aligned with product specifications. You’ll also provide follow-up support by sharing technical information on specific applications with our internal execution team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Communicate effectively with internal team members, customers, and vendors to collect all relevant information relating to the application.
- Evaluate application and generate system concepts.
- Collaborate with Applications engineering and/or purchasing to utilize or develop specifications for system equipment and work with suppliers to obtain costing information for that equipment.
- Developing cost estimates based on performance or previous history and customer build specifications.
- Writing the technical description or proposal for the solution.
- Other tasks and special assigned projects as designated by the Proposal Manager.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
TRAVEL:
- Travel is estimated at 10%.
LOCATION:
- This position can be remote or hybrid. If the individual hired is within a reasonable commuting distance to one of the SHAPE offices, on-site or hybrid is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Must be capable of expressing ideas both verbally and in writing to both the internal team members as well as customers and vendors.
- Experience in working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources including upper management, internal/external customer, suppliers/vendors, etc.
- Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through an analytical problem solving and common-sense approaches.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where deadlines are critical.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including strong listening skills.
- Must be self-motivated and enthusiastic.
- Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced experience in Excel, (AutoCAD, Solidworks, eDrawings) a plus.
- Familiarity and experience with machine design and building practices including automated machinery and robotics.
- Strong mathematical background and a solid understanding of job costing and associated spreadsheets.
- Overtime possible, and sometimes required.
- Customer site visits may be required from time to time.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, etc.) and/or a minimum of five (5) years direct experience in robotic system concept development is preferred.
