JOB TITLE: STUDENT SUCCESS COORDINATOR
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The Student Success Coordinator provides a school based, multi-faceted framework of academic and emotional support and intervention for students. This position also is tasked with helping all students develop skills in the areas of personal-social growth, educational planning and career development.
This role requires the knowledge and skills necessary to develop intervention strategies to meet the individual needs of students struggling with behavior challenges within the school setting. This role works collaboratively with the student's educational team and parents to develop intervention strategies for the classroom and/or within the school environment that allows the student to succeed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develops academic plans for at-risk students.
Develops intervention plans for students who need additional academic support.
Provides on-going emotional support and personal contact for assigned students.
Provides assessment services to identify the target population. Identifies at-risk students according to the approved criteria. Determines the target population to be served based on students’ needs and probability of effective intervention.
Serve as a liaison for other support services that can assist the student.
Establishes and maintains purposeful relationships with students and parents. Assists students in developing appropriate goals.
Assists students in developing and implementing strategies for removing barriers to success.
Monitors targeted students’ progress.
Communicate effectively within the educational community for the support of the student.
Performs other related work as required.
Must possess demonstrated skills in differentiated instruction and the ability to operate a safe and orderly classroom while maintaining the dignity of all students.
Must possess an upbeat and positive approach to the job and be viewed as a solution finder, not a negative thinker.
Must possess strong computer skills and have extensive knowledge of on-line instructional processes.
Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students.
Ability to motivate students.
Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
Ability to perform general clerical duties.
Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
Ability to operate common office machines.
Ability to maintain basic files and records.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitates by work assignments.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
North Carolina administrative or teacher certification required with a strong background in working with students across the academic and behavioral spectrum preferred with at least three years of successful classroom teaching experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
