PRIMARY PURPOSE:
This position will be responsible for managing and supporting enterprise-level VoIP network infrastructure,
ensuring seamless integration of VoIP systems and endpoints across the district. The role also leads Unified
Communications (UC) projects, overseeing planning, execution, and evaluation at both campus and district
levels.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field preferred -OR- 5+ years of professional work experience in VoIP infrastructure operations, administration, deployment, and support.
- 5+ years of experience in designing, deploying, configuring, and supporting VoIP and collaboration solutions, preferably with Cisco Systems. Experience with cloud-based or hybrid UC solutions such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams is a plus.
- Proven Hands-on work experience with Cisco Unified Communications solutions, including Cisco
- Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Unity Connection, Emergency Responder, Contact Center Express (UCCX), and Cisco collaboration endpoints.
- In-depth knowledge in configuring and supporting Cisco routers, switches, and voice gateways.
- Certifications or equivalent experience with the following skills is preferred.
- Strong networking fundamentals like CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA.
- Cisco CCNP Collaboration or CCIE Collaboration.
- Microsoft Teams certifications.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Annual Contract: 250 days
SALARY:
$92,313 (TA-8)
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Technical Skills:
- Experience with installing, troubleshooting, and supporting VoIP infrastructure hardware and software.
- Experience in or knowledge of managing and supporting Microsoft 365 collaboration services.
- In-depth knowledge of network topologies and protocols, including LAN/WAN, routing & switching, and cabling.
- Experience with K–12 telecommunication laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with 911 requirements and applicable federal and state communication standards.
- Experience with virtualization, certificate management, and data center environments is a plus.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Designs, develops, tests, and supports the district’s Unified Communications (UC) systems, including VoIP network architecture, services, hardware, and overall system functionality.
- Installs and maintains the UC infrastructure, ensuring proper documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and standards.
- Manages call routing designs, including the creation and maintenance of call trees and system auto-attendants.
- Manages the Cisco Unified Communications platform, including software, hardware, system backups, and integrations with third-party services such as paging systems and eFax.
- Handles VoIP-related changes such as VoIP site configurations, removals, and updates during facility renovations and new construction projects.
- Coordinates and schedules planned maintenance windows, upgrades, and service interruptions in collaboration with district staff to minimize disruptions.
- Evaluates and recommends enhancements to the VoIP network to improve performance, scalability, and support for future capabilities.
- Monitors network and communication systems to ensure maximum uptime, performance, event logging, and proactive alerting as part of the Enterprise Communications Network Team.
- Troubleshoots VoIP and UC issues, collaborating with internal teams and external service providers as needed to resolve communication problems.
- Supports and troubleshoots network endpoints, including computers, IoT devices, and other instructional and administrative technologies used across the district.
