BANNING UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT DESCRIPTION As a part of a high school teaching assignment, teaches one or more classes of mathematics and/or computer science students in grades 9-12, and assists in other school programs as assigned. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Teaches courses in mathematics and/or computer science to secondary students, utilizing the course context adopted by the math department and approved by the school administration and the Board of Education. 2. Develops within the student a person who can develop and use the deductive logic as an analytical tool. 3. Develops, when applicable and as facilities permit, lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids. 4. Demonstrates, in so far as possible, mathematical concepts using modes, chalk board, overhead projector, computers, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids. 5. Provides opportunities, as class size permits, for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. 6. Provide the student with sufficient math and/or computer knowledge so he/she may relate to the physical world to his maximum potential. 7. Communicates with parents to interpret contemporary methods in teaching mathematics and with parents and school counselors to discuss the individual student’s progress. 8. Identifies student needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. 9. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. 10. Performs other concomitant duties as may be reasonably assigned.
