Position Description

Major/Essential Functions
- Contribute to the continued success and growth of the J.T. & Margaret Talkington Leadership Academy by supporting initiatives in community engagement, life skills, and character development. Assist in coordinating team and individual outreach opportunities and help track and monitor community engagement activities.
- Support departmental community relations initiatives by helping develop best practices and encouraging a collaborative approach across the department. Assist with communication to appropriate personnel regarding the recording of community service hours. Contribute to the implementation of processes that engage community relations partners, including opportunities connected to group ticket initiatives.
- Contribute to the design and execution of a community outreach plan that builds relationships with community partners through staff involvement, donated resources, and event sponsorships. Support the management of internal autograph requests and assist in preparing best-practice materials for coaches’ participation in speaking engagements and community events.
- Help coordinate departmental representation at local charitable events, including invitations, attendance, and table logistics. Provide support for athletic department events and initiatives as assigned.
- Assist with the collection, organization, and analysis of data related to community relations. Support the preparation of an annual community engagement recap that highlights departmental impact and identifies opportunities for growth.
- Provide assistance with the Game Day Professor Program, the LDR 1200 freshman student-athlete course, and Summer Bridge transition programming. Support the evaluation and updating of summer transition initiatives to help ensure the academic, social, and personal success of incoming student-athletes.
- Assist in the development and coordination of coach- and student-athlete–driven life skills sessions designed to support the holistic growth and well-being of the student-athlete population. Contribute to programming that addresses academic, personal, and professional development needs.
- Assist with the supervision and coordination of a varying number of student and graduate assistants throughout the year, providing guidance and support in daily responsibilities and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in student-athlete development within intercollegiate athletics, including programming, community engagement, or leadership initiatives.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting student-athlete success both academically and personally.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
