Function
The Induction Specialist collaborates with Teaching and Learning to develop and implement systems of support for first year teachers, develops the New Teacher Orientation program, facilitates the first-year teacher induction academy content, and provides job-embedded coaching and mentoring.

Responsibilities:
- Provides job embedded professional development for teachers
- Utilizes best practices for mentoring as well as support in the classroom
- Conducts focused and guided planning sessions related to curriculum, instruction, classroom management and assessment that is aligned with the Instructional Guides provided by the Teaching and Learning Team
- Collaborates with the Teaching and Learning Team to plans and organize meetings that provide “real time” support for new teachers
- Embeds Induction class material in meeting schedule
- Visits classrooms and facilitates professional and emotional support
- Supports new teachers with the district training expectations
- Challenges teachers to plan and pursue professional growth activities and coordinates such activities
- Collaborate with Teaching and Learning Team to provide research-based strategies that best support educational practices
- Supports pedagogy that incorporates strategies to work with divergent learners and at-risk populations
- Promotes high expectations, and provides motivation for and recognition of excellence and achievement in teacher performance
- Values the organization by maintaining a positive working environment, adhering to the District’s mission statement, recognizing various roles and functions within the District, displaying sensitivity to various situations and needs, and supporting each teacher and staff member
- Provides assistance and support to teachers while observing, modeling, and sharing strategies and ideas
- Assist teachers in implementing TEKS-based learning
- Collaborates with both the Teaching and Learning and Special Education Support Services Teams to use current educational research to assist teachers in meeting the needs of students with various learning styles and backgrounds
- Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in District policy and in the Texas Education Code
- Promotes positive relations with school personnel and the general public
- Participating in professional organizations
- Communicates District’s curriculum practices, goals, standards, and instructional focus to staff and community
- Provide support to campus mentors with training and facilitation of mentoring
