The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA)is seeking a skilled, journey-level HVAC Technician IV to join our Building Maintenance and Services team - a critical part of the RTAA’s Facilities and Maintenance Department. The current opening is for the shift working Sunday through Wednesday, 3:00pm – 1:30am. Both internal and external applicants will be considered. This position requires being able to work day, swing, and graveyard shifts, including weekends and holidays. Shift selection is determined annually by seniority through a shift bid system.

As an HVAC Technician IV, you will:

  • Install, inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair commercial/industrial HVAC systems, including:
    • Air handlers, refrigeration units, boilers, absorption units, cooling towers.
    • Computer-controlled energy systems and pneumatic controls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems down to the component level.
  • Operate and adjust Energy Management Systems (EMS) for efficient, comfortable building operation.
  • Assist with refrigeration, chemical monitoring, and system calibration.
  • Provide snow removal support during winter months.
  • Approach every task with a customer-focused, team-oriented mindset to support the traveling public.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent AND completion of a recognized HVACR vocational program. Equivalent combinations of education/experience considered.
  • Experience:
    • 3 years of full-time journey-level HVACR experience in a commercial/industrial setting.
    • 2 years of experience in centralized HVAC plant operations, including computerized building automation.
  • Licensing:
    • Valid driver’s license at time of application.
    • CFC Certification preferred.

Physical Demands:

This job requires physical stamina and agility, including:

  • Routine lifting of 25 lbs. (up to 75 lbs. occasionally).
  • Work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Operation in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Use of PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols.

Pay & Benefits:

Hourly Rate: $27.52 – $32.35 (based on experience). Additional increases up to $39.56/hour
