About the Department

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time, 9-month position

PRIMARY DUTY: The staff nurse will provide patient care and work closely with the providers.

Position Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Must enjoy working with college students and supporting them on their academic and life journey.

2. Provides direct patient care through history taking and assessment skills within the scope of their practice.

3. Critical thinking skills.

4. Provide care to a diverse population in a nonjudgmental supportive way.

5. Clinically supports providers and other team members of Wellness Services.

6. Proficient with computer skills.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.


 

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN nursing program.

Certification/License: Unencumbered licensed to practice as an LPN or RN in Missouri.

Experience: Clinic and/or college health experience, experience with electronic medical records

Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to function autonomously as a self-starter in a fast-paced environment; commitment to excellence in all aspects of care delivery; leadership skills, committed to being part of a dynamic and fun team, committed to the Northwest students, excellent time management and critical thinking skills

Other Qualifications

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work in a clinic setting that is a modern and well-equipped facility. This position will work the 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break. There is occasional weekend and after 5pm work schedule. This person will follow the academic calendar having time off when the students are not in session.

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Electronic medical records, computer, nebulizer, spirometer, copier and fax (this list is not inclusive)

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to move quickly; ability to lift heavy boxes up to 40 pounds and lift patients as needed; must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
