The City of Manassas is accepting applications for our Deputy Registrar position! Housed in our charming Town Hall, the Deputy Registrar is responsible for engaging with the public, assisting with voter registration, and supporting the election process both in-person and by mail. This dynamic position offers a blend of administrative tasks and direct public interaction, making each day unique and rewarding.
The hiring range for this position is: $60,195.20 - $82,763.20, DOQ.This position is open until filled and may close at any time.
Position Duties
Assists with absentee voting during election times (in-person and by mail).
Staffs office in Chief Deputy Registrar’s absence.
Enters data into state elections database: Processes new voter registration applications and voter information changes; deletes voters from rolls upon their death or out of state moves; and processes change of addresses.
Provides customer service: Answers phones or greet visitors; answers questions regarding election laws, voting procedures, document preparation, state voting computer program (VERIS), and other information; and forwards calls or directs to the appropriate department/individual.
Files sensitive voter information (i.e. cards with social security numbers).
Provides general administrative support: Prepares documents; maintains files; performs data entry; prepares mass mailings; and obtains and disburses incoming and outgoing mail.
Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data utilizing Microsoft Word, VERIS, spreadsheet, database, Internet, e-mail or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
Assists with training and delegating tasks of Election Technicians and Election Officials as necessary.
Serves as Early Voting Supervisor in the absence of the Chief Deputy Registrar.
Notarizes documents for the general public as needed.
Performs other related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Public Administration, Elections Management, Voter Registration, Communications, or other relevant field; supplemented by two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must have bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.
Must be a registered voter. Certification as a Notary Public is preferred.Other Qualifications
Requires the swearing of a legal oath.
