Job Overview: Oversees the Early Childhood Therapeutic Classroom and holds responsibility for the children enrolled in the program, as well as for maintaining strong family relationships and clear communication. This role provides clinical leadership, outreach support, and direct services, ensuring that both children and team members receive the guidance and resources needed to thrive. Responsible for all aspects of performance management, attendance, attitude while following all procedures and documentation. Oversee Playworks staff, providing guidance, support, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.  Recognizes the importance of teamwork, which is demonstrated by offering assistance proactively, and receiving and offering ideas positively.  Engage in professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching skills and stay   informed on best practices in early childhood education. Oversees the training of all new staff members during the onboarding process, while giving ongoing support and assessment.  

Create Your Path: The Work You’ll Do:

  • Clinical Leadership: Offer trainings and support to the program of understanding trauma and how it impacts behavior.
  •  Support staff in using Conscious Discipline as a model to structure classrooms.
  •  Facilitate case consultation and clinical consultation for staff working with children in the program. 
  • Provide clinical supervision (group and individual) for early childhood therapeutic specialists and support their role in the program.   
  • Provide clinical consultation and reflective opportunities to staff working in the program.
  •  Work in coordination with the lead teachers and special needs specialist to support therapeutic milieu of the classroom.   Oversee clinical documentation (treatment plans, goals,).
  • Provide outreach and support to families of children enrolled in program- (in coordination with program coordinator) to generalize skills in the child’s natural setting.
  • Provide care coordination to families enrolled in program.
  • Work in coordination with Playworks early childhood specialists on enrollment and phasing students into less restrictive environments.
  •  Interview, hire, train, coach, mentor and develop employees. 
  •  Developing/maintaining/overseeing the hiring, training, promoting, performance reviews, setting performance goals, etc. of staff. 

    Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in psychology, Family Therapy, Social Work, Early Childhood Special Education or related field required.
  • 5-7 years' experience in leading and developing teams.
  • Experience working in an early childhood setting. 
  • Current licensure (LPCC, LP, LICSW, LMFT) Must be approved to provide clinical supervision.
  • Experience providing clinical services to early childhood age children in a mental health therapeutic program.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively and respectfully with a diverse population and understand the impact of trauma on children and families.
  • Ability to be self-directed as well as comfortable seeking support and information from others.
  • Good physical stamina with the ability to lift children as well as bending, kneeling, sitting at child size tables and chairs and on the floor.
  • Valid Class D driver's license may be required with a good driving record.
  • This position is subject to testing for drugs (THC included) & alcohol in accordance with the Federal Department of Transportation Regulations as well as the SMSC's Drug/THC and Alcohol Policy.
  • Service oriented. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Empathetic and sociable. Highly diplomatic. Skilled in identifying problems and brainstorming potential solutions.   
  • Excellent at written and oral communication skills.
