Location: Sydney - McKell - Minimum 2 days per week in office requirement, subject to change based on applicable DCS workplace policies.

About the team 

The Data Governance and Analytics team is a strategic enabler of NSWTA. DG&A team leads enterprise-wide data governance, uplifting analytic capability, and laying the foundations for responsible AI and Microsoft Copilot adoption 

Your responsibilities will include 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable data environments that support trusted analytics, AI readiness, and enterprise-wide governance.
  • Prototype and refine data architecture components that enable secure, compliant, and high-performing data flows across cloud and on-prem platforms. 
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and integration patterns to identify opportunities for enhancing data infrastructure and aligning with strategic transformation goals. 
  • Translate business needs into technical data models and architecture blueprints, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and future-state capabilities. 
  • Contribute to enterprise data initiatives by embedding architectural best practices into project delivery, supporting continuous improvement and innovation in data and AI enablement. 

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: 

  • Data Architecture Expertise: Experience designing and implementing scalable, secure data architectures across complex systems and platforms, with a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and integration strategies. 
  • Governance and Compliance Knowledge: Deep familiarity with data governance frameworks, including privacy, security, and ethical standards — especially in regulated or public sector environments. 
  • Analytical and Modelling Skills: Proficiency in data modelling techniques and translating business requirements into technical solutions that support analytics, insight generation, and decision-making. 
  • Strategic Thinking and Innovation: Interest in emerging technologies (e.g., AI, Copilot, automation) and ability to evaluate and apply them to improve data capabilities and align with organisational transformation goals. 
  • Collaborative Delivery Mindset: Strong stakeholder engagement and excellent communication skills, with a track record of working across teams to co-design practical, future-ready data solutions that drive value.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, enabling clear engagement with stakeholders at all levels to convey complex technical concepts and collaborate effectively in dynamic, multi-disciplinary teams. 
  • Proven Ability to Deliver in Complex Data Environments: Demonstrated experience managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes under pressure within fast-paced, multi-layered data ecosystems.

Essential Requirement 

Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance - to be eligible to apply for this role, you must be an Australian citizen and, as a condition of employment, obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance at the level specified for this role.
