Employment Development Specialist –Bilingual (Spanish)

 

 

We are in search of an Employment Development Specialist supports students in exploring career options, building employment portfolios, and preparing for meaningful employment. This role facilitates training and workshops on job readiness and career skills, while also providing one-on-one employment counseling. In addition, the Specialist is responsible for building and maintaining strong employer partnerships and will collaborate closely with the Employment Coordinator to identify and match students with appropriate job opportunities. The position also works with instructors, as needed, to develop materials that align with and support the employment skills curriculum across different English levels.


 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Conducts student intake and initial assessment to understand students’ and alumni's employment needs. Creates individual student employment plans, provides career guidance and follows up with students based on their short and long-term employment goals.

  • Conduct outreach to employers by sharing information about the school and its students and identifying job opportunities to connect students with the right positions.

  • Organizes and facilitates in-class job readiness workshops and school-wide employment skills trainings and develops related workshop training materials alumni's tailors existing material to meet the needs of the students.

  • Provides employment resources and assists students in the development of an employment portfolio to include: Resume and Cover letter, recommendation and referral letters, educational credentials, licenses and certification documents. 

  • Conducts job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the student and assist students in applying for jobs, completing job applications and creating employment-related accounts.

  • Prepares students for the interview and hiring process including familiarizing students with industry-related requirements and conducting mock interviews.

  • Serves as a liaison between the student and Employment Coordinator, and identifies qualified student candidates to match to available positions.

  • Ensures that the accurate documentation of notes from student interactions are recorded in the Student Information System (SIS).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • BA degree in business, human resources, social work, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a case manager or career specialist or the appropriate combination of education and experience
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish.
  • Demonstrated experience in public speaking and workshop leadership. 
  • Ability to conduct internet-based research.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including a demonstrated ability to work in diverse, cross-cultural settings.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new database systems for outcomes tracking.

  • Must be able to provide proof of completed Covid-19 vaccination.

Schedule:       Monday, Wednesday, Friday                      8:00 am – 4:30 pm

                        Tuesday and Thursday                     12:30 pm – 9:00 pm

 

 

The salary range is from $35.55 to $42.08 an hour based on experience.
