Diamond Antenna and Microwave (‘Diamond’) has been a principal provider of world-class radio-frequency (RF) rotary joints and rotating subsystems for over 60 years. Diamond has established itself as a technological leader by providing rotary joints for numerous ground, shipboard, submarine, aircraft, commercial platforms, as well as space applications. Diamond’s primary business area is the design, manufacture and refurbishment of rotary joint devices. Our technical staff possesses a unique combination of experience in the electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and quality aspects of the RF microwave technology field. Diamond received an equity investment from Artemis Capital Partners in 2024. With the investment, Diamond will look to grow by 3x through organic and inorganic growth strategies.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Diamond is seeking a talented Controller to join the finance function and support the company’s aggressive growth plan and build and implement scalable finance systems and processes. This role will report directly to the CFO. A strong candidate will be flexible to meet new demands from day to day, while supporting and enhancing robust business processes and standardizing accounting policies. We are a small and innovative company looking for someone enthusiastic about making a significant contribution to the growth of the organization.

The Controller will be responsible for supporting the CFO in the execution of all financial functions, including General Ledger accounts and accruals in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), relevant US Government Contracting regulations, preparation of Financial Reports and presentation to Leadership Team and PE ownership team, including forecasting and budget variance reporting. The Controller will work in tandem with the CFO and accounting staff responsible for billing, collections, and management of these functions as well as work with the team to develop and maintain a system of controls. Additionally, this individual will support the integration of several add-on acquisition integrations over the next 5 years. 

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and coordinate accounting policies and procedures that conform to GAAP and relevant USG Contracting regulations and strategic financial metrics.
  • Develop, analyze, and interpret financial and operational information to present operating results in terms of GAAP profitability, performance against budget, and other matters. 
  • Develop systems to support financial consolidation, product pricing, forecasting, inventory costing, and manufacturing processes of the business. 
  • Perform timely and accurate monthly account ledger reconciliations and reconciliation review for accounts in the general ledger. 
  • Run monthly and quarterly financial reports; producing budget to actual variances, presentation support and work in tandem with Operations to ensure Accounting occurs timely and accurately.
  • Support audits and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions, as needed. 
  • Support strategic decision-making through financial modeling and analysis. 
  • Assist in developing a culture of continuous improvement within the Accounting Department around business processes and internal controls, including implementing, monitoring, and enhancing current controls. 
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • 10+ years’ accounting experience.
  • Ability to create repeatable, automated processes in a heavily manual environment. 
  • Experience in a longer term, project-based business where POC is essential such as engineering or manufacturing is required; projects run 9-12 months on average. 
  • Successful track-record supporting operations and growth related to: pricing, analysis, operations, covenants, customer communication, M&A, ongoing financial-related discussions, planning and analysis. 
  • Comfort in a highly regulated or DOD environment is preferred. Comfort with FAR and CAS compliance.
  • Advanced modeling skills (spreadsheet, database) required. 
  • Comfortable working hands on with a small team. 
  • Process improvement oriented, self-starter, action-oriented.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written. 
  • Experience with Infor Visual ERP preferred.
  • Physically able to lift up to 20 pounds (materials/equipment).
  • Effective use of computer, laptop, cell phone and other mobile device to exchange information.
