Position Overview
T1 Energy is seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager for our Wilmer, TX facility. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all EHS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The EHS Manager will foster a strong safety culture, drive continuous improvement, and partner closely with site leadership, engineering, and operations teams to identify and mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the General Manager and engineering team to assess and control environmental, safety, and occupational health risks.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits; identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
- Lead and organize safety meetings, employee training programs, and emergency response drills.
- Oversee fire protection systems, emergency response equipment, and critical safety infrastructure.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of hazardous chemicals, including explosive and precursor materials.
- Review and authorize high-risk work activities; ensure PPE compliance in all work zones.
- Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (formerly OHSAS 18001) management systems; assist in internal audits and external certifications.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action plans.
- Manage contractor and third-party EHS compliance on-site.
- Lead fire prevention efforts, including daily checks and special inspections.
- Serve as the emergency response coordinator; ensure readiness and effective response protocols.
- Stay current with applicable EHS regulations and industry best practices.
- Perform additional EHS duties as assigned by site leadership.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (required) in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Fire Protection, or a related technical discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive EHS experience in industrial, high-tech manufacturing, semiconductor, or photovoltaic operations.
Experience with high-hazard materials, such as flammable gases, explosive precursors, or toxic substances, is strongly preferred.
Proven track record of managing EHS programs in a regulated manufacturing environment, with successful audit outcomes (e.g., OSHA, EPA, fire marshal).
Prior experience leading or participating in the implementation of environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
Certifications (Preferred or Required):
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) certification.
Safety Administrator License.
Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or equivalent.
Fire Protection Specialist certification (NFPA or equivalent).
ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification.
HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
Forklift Trainer, Confined Space Entry Supervisor, or similar certifications considered a plus.
Technical Skills:
Advanced understanding of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and DOT regulations and standards.
Familiarity with chemical hazard communication, SDS management, industrial hygiene, and exposure monitoring.
Experience with environmental reporting requirements (e.g., Tier II, TRI, SPCC, stormwater).
Working knowledge of EHS data management systems (e.g., Enablon, VelocityEHS, Intelex, Gensuite).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and safety system schematics.
Competency in root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, TapRooT).
Leadership & Communication Skills:
Proven ability to lead EHS initiatives across multidisciplinary teams and influence at all organizational levels.
Strong training and presentation skills; ability to deliver engaging safety and compliance training.
Effective communication with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and contractors.
Experience managing or mentoring EHS staff is a plus.
