Recovery Specialist
About the Role:
The Recovery Specialist plays a critical role in managing and recovering assets within the auto industry, specifically focusing on vehicles financed through Premier Auto Credit. This position is responsible for locating, securing, and recovering leased or rented vehicles that are delinquent or in default, ensuring minimal financial loss to the company. The Recovery Specialist will work closely with internal teams and external agencies to coordinate recovery efforts while maintaining compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Success in this role requires a combination of investigative skills, negotiation abilities, and a strong understanding of asset management processes. Ultimately, the Recovery Specialist contributes to the company’s financial health by efficiently managing recovery operations and maintaining positive customer relations where possible.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate and locate vehicles that are overdue or in default using various databases, skip tracing tools, and fieldwork.
- Coordinate and execute the recovery of vehicles in compliance with all applicable laws and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with customers to negotiate payment arrangements or voluntary returns when appropriate.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, repossession agents, and legal counsel to facilitate recovery processes.
- Maintain accurate records of recovery activities, status updates, and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
Competencies/Skills:
- The Recovery Specialist utilizes investigative and analytical skills daily to locate and recover assets efficiently, often employing skip tracing tools and databases to gather critical information.
- Communication skills are essential for negotiating with customers and coordinating with external partners such as repossession agents and law enforcement.
- Organizational skills enable the specialist to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining detailed and accurate records.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks ensures all recovery activities comply with applicable laws, reducing risk for the company.
- Proficiency with technology, including GPS tracking and recovery management software, enhances the ability to track and recover vehicles promptly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in asset recovery, collections, or a related field within the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of skip tracing techniques and recovery regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple recovery cases simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Certification in repossession or recovery operations.
- Experience working with law enforcement or legal entities in asset recovery.
- Familiarity with GPS tracking technology and recovery software platforms.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
