Pay Range: $69.13 - $84.65/hr

Job Description:We have an opening for an Occupational Health Lead Registered Nurse to support the full range of clinical activity. The Lead Nurse provides oversight of operations of the clinic including clinical laboratory, maintenance and operation of clinical equipment, supplies, pharmaceutical services, and supervision of medical assistants and nursing staff. You will participate in the delivery of occupational health services and perform return to work assessments, injury and illness, medical surveillance and certification examinations, health maintenance and education programs, health fairs and flu clinics as well as an array of medical testing and laboratory phlebotomy. In addition, you provide nursing leadership as well as independently deliver quality nursing assessment, and interventions under minimal supervision and within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act. This position is within the Environment Safety & Health (ES&H) Directorate.
This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
You will
- Execute and have primary functional responsibility for Occupational Health Nursing services including supervision of employees; provide guidance, direction and ensure deliverables and actions are complete.
- Assess, analyze, and evaluate occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, and initiate appropriate first aid clinical treatments.
- Conduct physical examination workups, including phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, audiometry, and vision tests.
- Conduct health hazard evaluations, including worksite evaluations, and train and counsel patients on preventive healthcare.
- Provide technical leadership and oversite of the work of medical technicians.
- Assure facility and work activity safety risks are identified and managed to preserve and protect the health and safety of Health Service Department (HSD) Staff.
- Provide case management, operational oversight, and coordination of LLNL’s Return-To-Work, supporting reasonable accommodations in compliance with Federal and State law.
- Lead for HSD Emergency Preparedness and Laboratory Emergency Duty Officer liaison responsible for coordinating HSD activities in Laboratory drills and exercises.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- Proven ability to lead a clinical team, train and develop nurses and medical assistants.
- Possess a valid California Registered Nurse license and Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC) certification or the ability to obtain within reasonable time.
- Proficient with phlebotomy and intravenous therapy.
- Possess or obtain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience with health coaching and healthy habits programming, including the development and implementation of these behavior change interventions.
- Expertise in working with general populations to prevent and supplement the treatment of disease. Clinical nursing experience in an occupational health, emergency room or urgent care setting.
- Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member with strong effective interpersonal skills.
- Advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact effectively with a diverse workforce.
Qualifications We Desire
- COHN (Certified Occupational Health Nurse), CCM (Certified Case Manager), or other advanced certification.
- Certified in Spirometry and Audiometry.
- Experience in disability case management.
- Experience providing OSHA HCP assessments, or similar experience involving assessment and management of noise induced hearing loss.
- Certification in spirometry and 12 Lead Electrocardiogram.

Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
