Job Description:

The Immigrant Resource Program Manager is a member of the Community Outreach team, reporting to the Director of Outreach. Primary responsibilities include supporting a network of immigrant volunteers to conduct community outreach and provide vital information to local immigrant communities that is language accessible and culturally appropriate. The Immigrant Resource Program Manager will adhere to agency policies and strategies that ensure sustainability and organizational growth. The Immigrant Resource Program Manager will work to promote the agency’s mission and values to all stakeholders. 

The Immigrant Resource Program Manager must exemplify Journey’s End’s core values in their work. These values include intercultural responsiveness, integrity, person-centered, empowerment, and exemplary service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support a network of volunteer Immigrant Helping Hands in Western New York.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training and management of Immigrant Helping Hands volunteers to better connect immigrant communities with needed resources that are both linguistically and culturally responsive.
  • Serve as trusted source, with Immigrant Helping Hands, for information and access to services for immigrants to succeed.
  • Must adhere to client confidentiality guidelines.
  • Oversee development of activities to respond to needs within immigrant communities.
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment and retention plan
  • Develop and provide a volunteer orientation and onboarding to all new Immigrant Helping Hands volunteers.
  • Meet with Immigrant Helping Hands volunteers monthly to provide training and additional information to build leadership capacity.
  • Create channels for feedback from volunteers to inform topics and presenters for Information Session Days.
  • Participate in monthly Office of New Americans webinars highlighting available state resources to serve immigrant communities.
  • Organize and Host Information Session Days for immigrant community members.
  • Develop confidential system to quickly send information to volunteers and receive real-time volunteer updates and urgent requests.
  • Communicate regularly with volunteers through confidential system.
  • Organize and actively participate in regularly-held Immigrant Community Roundtable with other immigrant stakeholders incorporating feedback from immigrant communities.
  • Develop a referral list of programs and services available to immigrants in our area.
  • Participate in virtual calls quarterly with Immigrant Resource Program Coordinators across the state.
  • Participate in volunteer and donor thanks and stewardship.
  • Assist in planning, promoting, and attending all Community Outreach department events.
  • Conduct outreach activities to recruit and retain volunteers such as tabling and/or off-site speaking presentations.
  • Give office tours to local groups, volunteers and other parties.
  • Share responsibility for supervising Home Agains (donor housing set-ups). Requires weekend hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • A strong work ethic is required: must be well-organized and detail-oriented; prioritize and follow through on tasks accurately with minimal supervision; and be very self-motivated in a fast-paced work environment
  • A demonstrated background in community outreach, community development, volunteer coordination, training with underserved communities and non-profit work strongly desired
  • Experience working with immigrant communities
  • Fluency in a language other than English
  • A thorough understanding of the mission of Journey’s End, and a commitment to promoting the mission to different groups in the community
  • Database experience and other computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and public speaking skills with ability to represent the agency professionally
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends (work hours can be flexed)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to an insured vehicle
  • Able to lift 25lbs
