Position Overview
Main responsibilities include leading the routing of our customer orders scheduled for next day delivery by meeting established delivery expectations and controlling expenses. Additional responsibilities will include leading the check-in process of our delivery upon their return, processing credits for undelivered product as well as supervising our afternoon union employees.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee truck check in. Maintain proper balance between route distance, stop count, and load size to accommodate drivers and equipment capabilities, as well as productivity standards.
- Lead the Routing team on creating efficient routes
- Create and maintain effective schedules for the routing and truck check in teams. Create efficient cost-effective routes to meet customer demands.
- Ensure a safe and clean workplace to avoid injuries and handle Workers Compensation matters for employees injured on the job.
- Establish priorities and ensure compliance.
- Ensure timely delivery of all customer orders.
- Develop and maintain customer delivery schedule based on delivery priorities.
- Ensuring appropriate staffing levels and operating schedules to meet delivery requirements and schedules.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Work closely with night warehouse management to ensure proper loading of customer shipments.
- Maintain staffing and equipment needs for the operation.
- Issue credits as appropriate.
- Work with Company’s Warehouse Management System (Axapta).
- Position supports both inbound and outbound transportation teams as needed.
- Work closely with Operations Manager and Director to ensure compliance with company and department policies and procedures; recommend improvements as needed as well as to collective bargaining agreements.
- Daily communication with sales representatives, warehouse management, and customers concerning customer deliveries.
- Truck check-in responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of daily workload with strong focus on customer service while controlling costs.
- Wave assignments.
- Ability to function effectively in multi-union warehouse environment.
- Manage deadlines and time management.
- Responsible for the preparation of customer delivery schedules and subsequent daily routing of orders to ensure customer service and low cost.
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Computer skills, knowledge of Word and Excel. In-depth knowledge of Transportation and Routing Systems.
- Skill in conflict resolution and negotiation
- Ability to lead, motivate and secure performance of staff positions in achieving key performance goals.
Education/Training/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent; College degree preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of Supply Chain experience
Physical Demands and Environment:
- Work requires frequent standing or walking throughout the work day
- Work requires considerable mental concentration to effectively execute complex tasks requiring periods of focused mental and visual concentration
- Must be able to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that is efficient, accurate and relevant to information processing and reporting as it applies to this position.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general industry periodicals, journals, and technical procedures.
- Be capable of presenting complex information and respond to inquiries from management and other employee and external groups.
- Must be able to problem solve and deal with variety of situations where only limited standards exist.
- May have to interpret and apply a variety of quality procedures and technical information.
