Role:
The Director of Dental Services directs the Dental Departments for Harbor Health Services Dental Operations which include Geiger Gibson Community Health Center, Harbor Community Health Center-Plymouth, Ellen Jones Community Dental Center and Harbor Community Health Center-Hyannis. Our Director can be based out of any of these locations but would be travelling to our other health center sites as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Provides oversight and management of Harbor’s Dental Department and Quality Assurance Program, ensuring compliance with State, Federal, and DPH regulations and requirements at all HHSI sites.
- Provides direct, comprehensive Dental care to patients.
- Provides direct Supervision of the Associate Dental Directors, Dental Team Leaders, Dentists, Dental Externs, Dental Residents, visiting Faculty and Hygienists
- Participates in staff recruitment; professional development and programming for the training of staff and retention of staff.
- Assessment and development of fee schedule for all payers; assists with vendor negotiations.
- Responsible, along with the Senior Medical Director, for setting clinic hours and scheduling of appropriate levels of staff.
- Serves as Chief Attending for AEGD residency Program.
- Assists with Grant writing and implementation of grant programming.
- Represents Harbor’s Dental Department at agency, community, state and federal forums.
- Provides senior leadership with guidance and feedback around all oral health programming matters.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures, credentialing and privileging of dental providers, dental staff training, a professional development plan, recruitment and retention objectives.
- Provides direct supervision of the Dentists and Dental Hygienists with regular reviewal of competencies, charting, compliance with safety protocols, customer service satisfaction, coding rules and other practice related issues.
- Develops, implements and monitors the dental quality metrics and manages any escalated patient concerns.
- Investigates and studies trends and developments in dental practices and techniques reflecting applicable advances in the field to guide professional and technical staff.
- Ensures that the Dental Student Program, Dental Residency Program & collaborations with other educational programs is effectively implemented and maintained with accredited programs instructing students, interns and residents on the practice of dentistry.
- Responsible & accountable for the operational budgets of the dental program; participates in the development of the budget process.
- Works with the other Dental Leadership in assessing patient and community needs and developing service expansion ideas and treatment plans.
- Supports dental needs for marketing and outreach events.
- During emergency operations may be required to report to and/or remain at work
- Assists with Clinical tasks/assignments as needed.
Requirements:
- DMD or DDS degree form an accredited College or University
- Current Massachusetts Full Dental License, DEA, Mass Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) and BLS (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider) Certification required
- 3 or more years of experience as a Dentist with at least one year in a supervisory/management role
- Knowledge of electronic dental practice systems, EPIC/OCHIN preferred
- 3 years of experience with dental coding and billing practices
- Proven knowledge of budget and accounting
- Proven training capabilities
- Intermediate skills/experience with Office 365 particularly: Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams
- Community Health Center experience preferred
- Must be able to timely travel timely between all HHSI sites to perform duties
