As a Field Mechanic, you will be the backbone of RoadGuard’s operations—keeping our fleet and proprietary equipment in top working condition. This role goes beyond turning wrenches; it requires sharp diagnostic skills, resilience in challenging field conditions, and the ability to solve complex problems quickly to minimize downtime. Success here sets the stage for advancement into supervisory and leadership roles within GSI’s growing organization. CMV driver qualification required.

Responsibilities:What You’ll Do
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and emergency repairs on heavy construction and proprietary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and engine (gas and diesel) systems.
- Execute welding and fabrication tasks to support equipment repair and customization.
- Partner with shop and field teams to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and work orders.
- Operate forklifts and other equipment as needed.
- Safely drive and transport company vehicles and equipment; maintain CMV driver qualification.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Split between field and shop work.
- Exposure to all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, uneven terrain).
- Ability to:
- Stand 8–12 hours
- Lift 50 lbs regularly
- Ascend/descend equipment access points
- Drive company vehicle for up to 11 hours
- Heavy regional travel required (typically within 2–4 hours of home base).
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in heavy construction equipment maintenance & repair
- 5+ years of hydraulics and electrical troubleshooting experience
- 5+ years of diesel troubleshooting & repair
- Welding experience (structural & repair-based)
- Forklift operation experience/certification
- Valid CMV driver qualification
- Ability to travel extensively
- Strong team orientation and customer service mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanic trade license/certification
- Trade school or college degree in mechanics or related field
- OEM certifications (CAT, Komatsu, etc.)
- Specialized training in hydraulics, electrical systems, or after-treatment troubleshooting
- Broad experience with heavy construction and specialized equipment
- CDL A license highly desired
Location: Boise, ID (Regional role with heavy travel, 2–4 hours from home base)
Division: RoadGuard (a GeoStabilization International company)
Pay Range: $33 - $45/hour
