We are currently looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our Collections team in Bloomfield Hills!
What are the responsibilities of the Accounting Specialist?
- Run and process move-out tool data, ensuring accurate information.
- Organize move-out data in alphabetical order and date order for efficient tracking.
- Review charge batches marked as RTP (Ready to Post) and post them accordingly.
- Verify that all inspections are passed within the 10-day window. If not, proactively follow up with the site to ensure completion.
- Respond promptly to emails and internal requests.
- Complete as many term accounts as possible by reviewing the following: Lease End Date, Move-out Date, Notice to Vacate, Current Lease Details, and Add/Drops of residents.
- Ensure accurate resident charges according to the lease/notice to vacate agreement.
- Update forwarding addresses in Yardi as needed.
- Reach out to sites for clarification and resolution of discrepancies.
- Process deposit accounting for applicants who have canceled or been denied.
- Review re-rental and credit account activity, ensuring accurate adjustments.
- Analyze Refund Estimates to verify if an apartment has been re-rented and adjust accounts as needed.
- Review and manage open credit accounts for past residents, ensuring accurate and timely resolution of any outstanding balances.
- Re-issues of Checks: If a check has been issued but not cashed within a month, add a reminder to the calendar to void the original check and issue a new one at the 30-day mark.
- Verify charges with the property for missed back damage, electricity, and gas charges.
- Account audit of residency.
- Additional collections duties may be assigned.
What are the role requirements?
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures is required.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs, especially in Excel.
- Experience using Yardi Voyager or related property management software is preferred.
- Experience with expense reporting preferred.
- Displays accuracy with information collection and monitoring.
- Demonstrates analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Maintains positive working relationships with residents, management, and colleagues.
- Maintains high level of confidentiality.
- Demonstrates self-management and multi-tasking skills.
- Regular attendance, work ethic and strong interpersonal skills are required for success in this position.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Must possess exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Must present the ability to execute job duties under stressful circumstances such as last-minute deadlines or other difficult situations.
- Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with others.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
