What You'll Do:

Principal is hiring for a meticulous and tech savvy  Governance, Senior Associate that is knowledgeable in Employee Benefits, Trust and Custody services, and ERISA to strengthen our compliance and policy governance structure. The perfect fit will excel in regulatory requirements, contract administration, Excel, and data analysis, collaborating seamlessly across legal, compliance, and business operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure flawless governance and compliance of policy/account administration processes, aligning with contract documents, Terms & Conditions, and applicable government regulations.
  • Act as a liaison with Legal and Compliance teams to efficiently support timely and budget-friendly operational oversight.
  • Conduct assessments of operational processes to identify compliance risks and recommend actionable improvements.
  • Develop and successfully implement controls to mitigate moderate compliance and operational risks; monitor efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • Track key risk indicators (KRIs), conduct trend analysis, and prepare insightful, audience-specific compliance reports.
  • Act as the company's representative in audits, internal/external inspections, market conduct evaluations, and government investigations.
  • Collaborate with Legal Counsel, Compliance, auditors, and vendors to support audit and examination responses.
  • Draft, review, and update operational policies, procedures, and guidelines to meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Support business process improvement efforts, collaborating across functions to boost efficiency and decrease redundancies.
  • Communicate updates to relevant collaborators and offer mentorship to junior staff as needed.
Who You Are:

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of pertinent experience in Employee Benefits, Trust & Custody, with direct exposure to ERISA compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with state and federal regulations, contract provisions, and compliance practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business partners, management, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with compliance monitoring, policy development, and risk analysis.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Trust 3000 or similar trust accounting systems.
  • Previous participation in regulatory examinations, internal audits, or market conduct reviews.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong flexibility and capacity to handle intricate and unclear information.

Salary Range Information:Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.Salary Range:$67500 - $121200 / yearTime Off Program:Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.Pension Eligible:YesAdditional Information:
