POSITION

Director of Apparel


JOB SUMMARY

  • The Director of Apparel plays a key role overseeing the logistics and execution of all products, projects, and operations in the Apparel Division. This position is responsible for guiding the full lifecycle of new apparel development, including research, conceptual design, creation, and testing. Additionally, the Director manages purchasing and manufacturing activities to ensure efficient and effective delivery of apparel products within the division.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support, report to, and be directed by the Chief Creative Officer in his/her duties.
  • Manage and direct the Apparel Division.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with any and all departments within the company, including by not limited to Research & Development (R&D), New Products Development (NPD), Marketing, Sales, Warehousing, and the Executive Team, in the execution of product/process development and release.
  • Manage logistics, execution, and taskings of apparel products, product lifecycles, projects, and processes.
  • Work with the Chief Creative Officer on the conceptualization and execution of New Products Development apparel products, projects, and processes.
  • Participate in the entire process of developing a new apparel product, including creating, revising and testing designs.
  • Conduct research on developmental initiatives, which may include new products and/or materials.
  • Manage all manufacturer, vendor, and contractor relationships and taskings.
  • Manage the documentation of designs into tech packs.
  • Meet with customers and end users to document and develop products that solve customer problems.
  • Periodically attend continuing education courses to learn new technologies and techniques.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee policies and procedures for any/all departmental needs.
  • Assists in hiring, on-boarding, training, and mentoring staff on appropriate equipment, processes, and products.
  • Evaluates staff on job performance to provide professional development and corrective action feedback in conjunction with Human Resources and the Executive team.
  • Evaluates efficiency through methods that may include workflow, workstation organization, and time management.
  • Initiate, manage, and execute process improvement initiatives in conjunction with the Quality Manager and other management staff in the development of Quality Assurance and Quality Control policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Enforce all company policies regarding supporting staff.
  • Act as a major contributor to software management projects that the company embarks on.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • May be required to travel for trade shows, training events, gear testing, customer locations, military installations, demonstration sites, industry or company events, and/or contract manufacturers to assist with implementing/communicating a new product to their production/R&D teams.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or extended hours depending on business needs.
  • Physical requirements may include sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and kneeling for up to and including 8 hours.
  • Vision to view printed and electronic text and graphics.
  • Ability to access information on computers, tablets, and electronics.
  • Ability to handle and manipulate items with hands and/or fingers up to and including 8 hours.
  • In accordance with the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (18 U.S.C. § 931), the applicant must not have a violent felony background.
  • Full-time, remote position requiring 1 week per month on Spiritus Campus in Aberdeen, NC.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Utilize appropriate software to perform job duties, such as but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite, Cutworks, AccuMark, Lightburn, Fusion 360, ADP, Microsoft Office Suite and/or Microsoft Dynamics systems to facilitate job duties.
