POSITION:      Special Education Teacher - Extended Resource Room (ERR)

 

LOCATION:      Franklin Elementary

 

HOURS:            7.00/day, Monday - Friday

                        180-day calendar

 

SALARY:           Based on the 2025 - 2026 Teacher Salary Schedule

NEW HIRES ARE CONDITIONAL UPON PASSING A FINGERPRINT SCREENING

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Assist in supervision and instruction for paraeducators, or willingness to learn.
  • Design and implement standards-based IEP's and behavior intervention plans.
  • Participate in functional behavioral assessments.
  • Successful experience with a co-teaching model or willingness to participate in training.
  • Prior experience or demonstrated knowledge of implementing multi-tiered interventions for academics, behavior and/or social skills.
  • Willingness to share and collaborate with grade level partners to meet district and/or school improvement plan(s).
  • Design specially designed instruction for students with a range of disabilities to access general education curriculum.
  • Participate in professional learning communities as determined by district personnel.

The candidate must demonstrate commitment to student success while aligning with state requirements and the school’s guiding principles, vision, and mission. The candidate must also demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with all students. The candidate must be willing to participate in required trainings and professional development, implement best practices that foster meaningful learning experiences, work within a system that supports student interventions, and collaborate with relevant staff members to enhance student outcomes.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous successful classroom teaching experience 
  • Bilingual/Biliterate* in English/Spanish 
  • Previous experience in working with students with a variety of disabilities 
  • Willingness to participate in sheltered training such as Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD).
  • Demonstrate a core belief system that matches the guiding principles and vision/mission of the school and be willing to operate accordingly.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability and willingness to work toward improving student achievement based on state and national standards, school improvement plan, and all other state requirements. 
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required trainings and professional development opportunities.
  • Willingness to work with a system that allows for peer collaboration and student intervention within the workday.

  • Willingness to implement best practice strategies for student learning and interventions.

  • Willingness to participate collaboratively with staff members for the purpose of improving student learning including cross grade level and grade level partners.

  • Knowledge of general classroom management.
  • Ability to work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Balanced Literacy, or willingness to learn.
