POSITION: Programmer II  

DEPARTMENT: Engineering


 Job Summary: The Programmer II is a skilled, full programming role focused on creating, testing, and optimizing CNC programs for manufacturing processes. This position is ideal for individuals with substantial experience in CNC programming and manufacturing, capable of independently developing, debugging, and refining programs to meet production requirements. The Programmer II will work independently and with engineers and the production team to ensure CNC programs are efficient, accurate, and meet quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and modify CNC programs based on engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Independently create, test, and optimize CNC programs using software such as AlphaCam, CutRite, and PEP Technologies.
  • Support CNC machine setup and operation, providing clear documentation and troubleshooting support for the production team.
  • Test and debug CNC programs, ensuring they meet high-quality production standards and optimizing them for efficiency.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to CNC programs, setups, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure CNC programs are successfully implemented in the      manufacturing process.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior programmers and assist with process improvement initiatives.

Skills & Competencies:

  • SW Drafting: Ability to interpret and make minor modifications to manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Solid Modeling: Knowledge of solid modeling to create 3D designs, leveraging tools like SolidWorks.
  • AutoCAD: Proficient in using AutoCAD for technical drawing creation and modification.
  • Programming: Advanced knowledge of CNC programming, including G-code, M-code, conversational programming, and off-line programming.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes.
  • ECR Management: Ability to process Engineering Change Requests (ECR) using PDM workflows and ensure programming and      documentation are aligned with project changes.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required; Associate’s degree or higher in Manufacturing Technology, CNC Programming, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in CNC programming, with a demonstrated ability to create and optimize CNC programs.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (AlphaCam, CutRite, PEP Technologies) and CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code) desired.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks Drafting, Solid Modeling, and AutoCAD is beneficial.
  • Must be willing to occasionally work in production and operate CNC machinery.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and equipment.
  • Comfortable with standing, bending, lifting up to 50lbs and working for extended periods in a manufacturing setting.

Performance Levels:

  • Proficiency is expected in all CNC programming tasks, with the ability to work independently, mentor junior staff, and optimize manufacturing processes.
