Create impact as an Insurance Investigator
RACQ helps over 1.7 million members live and move safely, securely and sustainably into the future. We’re proud to continue delivering trusted cover and local care, while embracing new opportunities to support our communities. From September 2025, RACQ’s insurance arm began a long-term strategic alliance with IAG.
Are you ready to take your investigative career to the next level? Join our dedicated team at RACQ Insurance Counter Fraud and Investigations as we strive to maintain the highest standards in combating insurance fraud and ensuring policy compliance.
Your Role
As an Insurance Investigator at RACQ Insurance, you will play a vital role in protecting the organisation’s integrity by conducting thorough investigations into potentially fraudulent claims and policy breaches. Your work will help ensure fairness and compliance across a range of insurance products including Home, Motor, Pet, and CTP.
Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed interviews with members, customers, and third parties, assessing evidence, and compiling comprehensive reports. You’ll provide recommendations to claims owners, legal teams, and underwriting departments, while identifying risks that could impact RACQ Insurance’s strategic objectives and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
It’s essential that all investigative processes align with the General Insurance Code of Practice (GICOP) and meet regulatory standards, including those set by ASIC. Your attention to detail and commitment to ethical practices will be key in maintaining trust and transparency across RACQ Insurance’s operations.
This is a permanent position, and we welcome candidates based in Meanjin (Brisbane). We offer flexible working arrangements with a mix of work from home and office.
About You

- 1 to 3 years’ experience in insurance, claims investigation, law enforcement, or related fields
- Exposure to claims lodgement and cross-functional dealings with investigations is highly desirable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to “follow the lead” and connect the dots
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to compile details investigation reports
- Excellent relationship management skills, with a proactive and adaptable mindset
- Resilience and sound judgement in handling sensitive or complex matters
- Familiarity with insurance industry practices and regulations, particularly the General Insurance Code of Practice.
