We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced National Payroll Process Owner to take charge of our payroll operations nationwide. This is a pivotal role that will shape the future of payroll processes, drive innovation, and ensure compliance and efficiency across the board.
About the Role
As the National Payroll Process Owner, you will oversee end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll lead a high-performing team, collaborate with key stakeholders, and drive strategic initiatives that enhance business performance and employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations & Team Leadership
Manage national payroll processes and ensure compliance with privacy legislation.
Lead and develop the payroll team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing aligned with EBAs.
Oversee recruitment, training, and performance reviews within the payroll team.
Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Process Ownership & Improvement
Define and optimise payroll processes across Australia.
Identify gaps and launch improvement initiatives.
Ensure harmonisation and standardisation of processes across business lines.
Lead change management and training for payroll-related projects.
Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures.
Systems & Analytics
Ensure payroll systems are accurate, efficient, and fit-for-purpose.
Use payroll data for analytics and insights.
Support audits and maintain documentation and compliance.
Deliver key reports and dashboards to support informed decision-making.
Strategic Leadership
Develop a 1-year detailed and 3-year high-level roadmap for payroll improvements.
Engage with HR, Finance, and Operations to align payroll with business needs.
Ensure business continuity planning for payroll in case of system outages.
Drive innovation and best practices across the Payroll Operations.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
10+ years’ experience in senior payroll roles.
Strong SAP and payroll systems expertise.
Proven leadership and team management experience.
Extensive accounting and process knowledge (Hire to Retire).
Experience in change and project management.
Business acumen and ability to work in dynamic environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
