SUMMARY
The Accounting Reporting Assistant is accountable for providing transactional support for multiple processes within the organization accounting department. The individual will focus primarily on the facilities management services division of our business. This is a great entry level position offering tremendous potential for growth.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review OPEX transactions to ensure contract guidelines are met.
- Monitor accounts receivables and accounts payables sub ledgers.
- Prepare project journal entries and submit for approval.
- Assist the accounting managers with month end entries.
- Connect with the operations team to book cost accruals.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare and provide documentation required by internal and external auditors.
- Receive, review, and act as first approval for expense reports in multiple regions.
- Ensure taxes are properly recorded in both principal and agency accounts.
- Validate weekly timesheets to ensure proper coding according to client contract.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced knowledge of current purchasing and payables accounting systems and MS Office suite (Excel, Word).
- Ability to process high volume data with accuracy.
- Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and vendors/clients for the purpose of data clarification and exchange / follow up.
- Ability to identify non-compliance items.
- Ability to make basic policy adherence decisions.
- Ability to identify data discrepancies – (i.e.) coding, purchase orders, taxes calculation, etc.
- Ability to validate invoice and to make decisions whether to process payment or to put payment on hold.
- Bilingual (French/English)
MINIMUM EDUCATION: College and/or university degree in finance or accounting
Assets;
- CPA designation obtained or in progress
- Prior experience with Oracle ERP
- Prior experience with real estate facilities management services
- Prior experience building dashboards using Power BI
- Any extracurricular activity such as sports, student association, volunteering, etc.
