SUMMARY

The parts manager is the designated leader of the parts department. He/she is responsible for all aspects of the department including sales, expenses, personnel and facility issues. 

JOB DESCRIPTION



The parts manager is responsible for the parts department. He/she must be a self-motivated employee with a desire to maximize sales while keeping expenses to a controlled level. The parts manager is responsible for ordering stock, maintaining a good inventory control system, tracking expenses and modifying parameters when sales trends change. He/she is also in charge of a small group of employees which include parts counter persons, shipping & receiving personnel and parts delivery drivers. Also responsible for parts department vendor management.


Requirements

SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Basic computer skills: typing, NDS, Microsoft word, Microsoft excel, Powerpoint, etc..
  • Ability to work well with customers, personable
  • Ability to manage small group of personnel
  • Above average knowledge of forklift, parts and their functions
  • Above average ability in area of inventory control
  • Maintain PO system and monitor outstanding PO’s
  • Ordering new stock in and phasing out old stock
  • Monitor sales/GP & making adjustments for improvement
  • Work closely with service management/personnel for maximum efficiency
  • Handling disciplinary issues with assigned personnel
  • Keep current on 5S procedures and implement with personnel
  • Self-motivated individual

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

5+ years in parts industry with some management experience

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED 

WORK CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is in an office setting where the noise level is generally quiet to sometimes moderate if working near the shop area. Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. Employee must have normal manual dexterity and be able to effectively manipulate keyboard and phone. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
