- Senior
We are seeking an experienced Senior Portworx & BIG-IP LTM AdmAdministrator to manage and optimize our containerized infrastructure using Portworx by Pure . This role involves ensuring high availability, data security, and efficient performance for stateful applications running on Kubernetes environments. The ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of hands-on experience in administration, with a strong focus on cloud-native solutions like Portworx. You will collaborate with DevOps teams to support dynamic provisioning, disaster recovery, and scalability in hybrid or multi-cloud setups, with in-depth knowledge of Portworx architecture components and performance optimization.
Responsibilities:- Install, configure, and administer Portworx platforms in Kubernetes clusters, including dynamic provisioning of block and file.
- Manage capacity planning, performance analysis, and optimization to ensure efficient utilization and minimize downtime, including tuning IO profiles, resource allocation, and network configurations for improved IOPS, latency, and throughput.
- Implement and maintain high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), backups, snapshots, encryption, and data migration strategies for persistent, leveraging Portworx's replication and topology-aware features.
- Monitor systems using logging, observability tools, and troubleshooting techniques to resolve issues related to topology awareness, security, and data integrity, while applying best practices for performance like using SSD/NVMe classes and local volumes to reduce network overhead.
- Provide technical support to end-users and developers, including guidance on best practices for running stateful applications in containerized environments, such as distributing workloads across nodes and integrating with autoscaling for performance resilience.
- Collaborate on architecture design, deployment, and maintenance of Portworx in production, ensuring compliance with security standards and business continuity requirements, including choosing between disaggregated and converged architectures based on scaling needs.
- Conduct regular audits for data security, integrity, and optimization of capacity in data centers or cloud-based networks, monitoring key metrics like IOPS, latency, throughput, and resource utilization.
- Stay updated on Portworx advancements, Kubernetes updates, and industry trends to recommend improvements and integrations, including performance enhancements like caching strategies and dedicated for critical workloads.
- Requires deep familiarity with Key Elements design and deployment of Nodes, ppols, Volumes and Replication
- Requires deep familiarity with Portworx's key architectural elements to effectively design and manage deployments
- Candidates must demonstrate expertise in Portworx performance features and optimization:
- Key Factors Affecting Performance: Network bandwidth (minimum 10Gb/s, <5ms latency), cluster topology, volume placement, and resource allocation (CPU threads, memory).
- Network optimizations like LACP bonding and tuning parallel connections enhance throughput.
- Monitor metrics like IOPS, read/write latencies, throughput, and capacity utilization; use local volumes over network-attached for high-performance workloads; integrate with autoscaling and rule-based management via Autopilot for scalability without performance degradation.
- Must have BIG-IP LTM Administration Experience with Desigen, Deploy and Troubleshooting the issues
Skills:
- 8-12 years of experience in administration, with at least 5-6 years specifically working with Portworx or similar cloud-native platforms (e.g., in Kubernetes ecosystems).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven expertise in Linux/Unix system administration, networking fundamentals, and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, including Portworx-specific architectures (disaggregated/converged) and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Portworx, BIG-IP LTM, management tools, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery planning.
- Strong knowledge of data security, encryption, backups, and DR in multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills for supporting cross-functional teams.
- Certifications such as Pure Certified Portworx Enterprise Professional, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent are highly preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of tasks.
- Familiarity with related technologies like Pure FlashArray, or other NAS/SAN systems.
- Knowledge of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with on-call responsibilities
