About the Role
An Insurance Verification Representative is responsible for obtaining all relevant In and Out of Network benefits via phone and online systems for facilities as needed. Critical requirement is communicating informational needs with both the insurance companies as well as the center staff as needed.
Position’s Essential Responsibilities
- Insurance verification processes including obtaining benefits and updating the relevant EMR.
- Entering clear and concise notes into the EMR related to patient benefits.
- Utilize the VOB Tool to obtain eligibility and benefits.
- Ensure clarity in insurance coverage eligibility.
- Communicate regarding any emerging policy changes.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with multiple offices and facilities as questions arise regarding patient benefits and eligibility.
- Demonstrates ability to be team player.
- Under the direction of leadership works with necessary departments (e.g., Case Management, Medical Records, Patient Access, PFS Resolution Team, etc.) in order to drive process improvement and system edits.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Insurance verification and authorization experience preferred
- Listens well and devotes full attention to patients and medical professionals alike
- Has the ability to remain calm, even under the most stressful of situations
- Communicates well, both orally and in writing
- Is able to switch priorities based upon patient need
- Is able to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
